The Book of Ezra

What has happened to us is a result of our evil deeds and our great guilt, and yet, our God, you have punished us less than our sins deserved.—Ezra 9:13

The book of Ezra reminds us that God always keeps His promises and always gives us more than we deserve. God brought His people back from exile to the land He had promised to Abraham centuries before. We meet Ezra, a man who loves the Lord and models wisdom and unyielding trust in God.

This Old Testament book records the rebuilding of the temple, the reestablishment of right worship, and the people’s ongoing struggle to be faithful to God. As we study the book of Ezra, it is my prayer that we will grow to know God more intimately, trust Him more fully, and respond in grateful obedience to His unwavering love.
